Alabama Autism Safety Initiative

Disability as an Ability Toward Success: Moms on the Move, also known as D.A.T.S.M.O.M., a 501(c)(3) organization launches its innovative and historic Alabama Autism Safety Initiative. It’s a call-to-action awareness campaign that identifies the need for a strategic statewide autism safety plan and provides solutions. The initiative involves hands-on autism training, creation of community inclusion practices, programs and partnerships that result in systematic change within governmental, city and county jurisdictions, law enforcement, first responders, airport security officials and traffic divisions.

First Responder's Autism Safety Training
-- Time and safety are of the essence during an emergency and it's imperative for first responders to quickly identify signs that a person may have autism.
Law Enforcement Autism Training
-- Bridging autism education and training gap between individuals on the spectrum and law enforcement.
Spectrum Sky
-- D.A.T.S.M.O.M. continues it's mission to reduce and eliminate access barriers for our children on the spectrum with the creation of the airport training program Spectrum Sky.
Autism Safety Signs
-- D.A.T.S.M.O.M. will partner with city and county traffic divisions across the state to construct and display a specific number of autism signs in neighborhoods.
